Hungry Owlets

Hunt all night, carry it home, and decide which owlet eats.

How it works

One night at a time

Nothing here is a quiz. You hunt, you feed, and the owlets grow or they do not — and an owlet that goes short simply takes longer to fly.

  1. 1Hunt the meadow

The moon crossing the sky is your clock, and every dive costs energy. Tap an animal to swoop on it. Some get away.

  2. 2Carry it home

A catch is no use in the grass. The barn in the top left lights up while you are holding something: fly to it.

  3. 3Choose who eats

Four owlets, hatched days apart, so one is always bigger. A moth is one mouthful and a vole is six. You decide.

  4. 4Until the nest is empty

Enough food and an owlet grows: hatchling, nestling, fledgling, and then it can hunt alone and goes. Raise all four.

Away from the screen

Energy in, energy out, and the hard arithmetic of a brood that hatched days apart. No owlet starves — a hungry one just takes longer to fly.
